Today is my second wedding anniversary. Today we begin our third year. Today we are separated by 80 miles. The same 80 miles that we tried to overcome by getting married in the first place. What's that saying...if you wanna hear God laugh tell him your plans.
To begin, some introductions.
I'm Pamela. I'm currently working as a Costume Shop Manager while getting my M.S. in Academic Advising.
My husband is Matthew. He's currently working as a grocery clerk and finishing his Bachelor's in Civil Engineering.
We share one adorable puppy named Riley. I adopted him when he was 7 months old and he took to Matthew on our first date, that I didn't know was a date, and they became fast friends.
The reason we are living separately seems complicated but it's really not. Before Matthew and I got married I promised him that it was my priority for him to finish school. We live two hours from his school. At first he only needed to go to school once or twice a week but now, he has to go four days a week and soon it will be five. To conserve energy, money, and time Matthew stays closer to school during the week. While this breaks a tiny piece of my heart I am sure it breaks less of my heart than a knock on my door in the middle of the night because he fell asleep and wrecked in the forest that is between home and school. Now we are more commited than ever to spending what little time he have together really and truly together. It seems like even though we are living apart we actually have more quality time together which is an unanticipated bonus.
So, this blog is a place to document our year apart. It's just for me. An outlet for documenting the mundane moments of single but married living, the creative work I do, and the time we spend together.
This is our third year.
